19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his first title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since that period of 2023.

The win also means he has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in that event previously this season.

His retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional championship, took control to create a final set.

Moutet defended four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
